It has reinvented itself since the 2017 City of Culture year, and the energy from that period is still visible in the Fruit Market creative quarter, the waterfront galleries, and the independent food scene around Humber Street. If Europe is not the plan, Hull still puts you in a strong position. The A165 runs north along the coast to Hornsea, Bridlington, and Flamborough. The A63 and M62 connect west to Pontefract, Leeds, and the motorway network beyond. York is 45 minutes northwest. The Yorkshire Wolds - quiet chalk hills made famous by David Hockney - start just outside the city. Hull Beyond the Port
The Deep aquarium is worth a visit before you set off. Built at the confluence of the Hull and Humber rivers, it houses over 3,500 creatures including sharks, rays, and a colony of Gentoo penguins. Hull Minster and the cobbled Trinity Square anchor the Old Town, where the Wilberforce House Museum tells the story of William Wilberforce and the abolition of the slave trade. The Maritime Museum in Queen Victoria Square covers Hull's whaling and trawling past - heavy history, well told.
The Fruit Market district is the newer side of the city. Craft breweries, independent restaurants, studios, and galleries have filled the old warehouse buildings along Humber Street. It is a good place to eat before heading to the coast or the ferry terminal.
The East Yorkshire Coast by Motorhome
Head north from Hull and within 30 minutes you reach Hornsea, a low-key resort with a long sandy beach and Hornsea Mere, Yorkshire's largest freshwater lake. Continue to Bridlington for a proper seaside harbour town, then on to Flamborough Head and the chalk cliffs at Bempton. The RSPB reserve at Bempton Cliffs is one of the best seabird colonies in England - hundreds of thousands of gannets, puffins, and guillemots nest on the cliffs each spring and summer. It is genuinely spectacular and free to visit.
South of Hull, the Holderness coast stretches to Spurn Point, a three-mile sand spit curling into the Humber Estuary. This is one of the most dynamic coastlines in Europe, constantly shifting, and a magnet for birdwatchers during autumn migration. The Yorkshire Coast from Bridlington northward to Scarborough and Whitby is within comfortable motorhome range for a longer trip.
Collecting Your Motorhome
Our depot is in Pontefract, West Yorkshire - roughly 47 miles from Hull city centre. The drive takes around 50 to 55 minutes in normal traffic. Head west on the A63, join the M62 at junction 38, then exit at junction 32 for Pontefract. The route is almost entirely dual carriageway and motorway, and well suited to anyone not used to driving larger vehicles. We provide secure parking at the depot for the duration of your hire.

Choosing the Right Motorhome
We have five Elddis motorhomes in our fleet, ranging from a compact 2-berth (the Autoquest CV80, which converts to sleep 4 at a push) through to 4-berth and 6-berth options. Both manual and automatic gearboxes are available. Every hire includes full insurance, 24/7 roadside assistance, and breakdown cover. Large holiday park near Tunstall, approximately 20 miles southeast of Hull and a 10-minute walk from Tunstall Beach. Dedicated touring field with hardstanding and grass pitches, 10 and 16-amp electric hook-ups, and premium pitches with water. Touring guests can use the indoor pool, restaurant, playground, fishing lake, and evening entertainment. Open March to October.
Thorpe Hall Caravan and Camping Site
Peaceful campsite set within the old walled kitchen garden of a country estate at Rudston, roughly 30 miles north of Hull and 15 minutes from Bridlington. 55 touring pitches on level grass with 16-amp electric hook-ups. Heated shower block, on-site shop, laundry, and coarse fishing. Dogs welcome. The Rudston Monolith, the tallest standing stone in Britain, is in the village. Open March to October.
Butt Farm Caravan and Camping
Working family farm just outside Beverley, about 9 miles north of Hull. 30 pitches including 11 hardstanding with electric hook-up and water. A quiet, no-frills site with easy access to Beverley town centre and the Westwood common. Good base for exploring the Yorkshire Wolds. Dogs welcome.

Stay on the A63 as it becomes dual carriageway past Howden, then join the M62 westbound at junction 38. Leave the M62 at junction 32 and follow signs for Pontefract. The drive takes around 50 to 55 minutes in normal traffic and is almost entirely dual carriageway and motorway - straightforward even if you have not driven a motorhome before.
