Leeds Festival by Motorhome: The Complete Camping Guide

1 May 2026
9 min read

Leeds Festival at Bramham Park is one of the biggest weekends in the UK music calendar, and if you are reading this, you are probably wondering whether leeds festival motorhome camping is an option. The good news is: yes, campervans and motorhomes are allowed on site at Bramham Park with a campervan pass, and there are also excellent nearby campsites if you want more comfort. Either way, from our depot in Pontefract, you are barely twenty minutes from Bramham Park - which makes a Leeds Festival motorhome hire one of the smartest ways to do Leeds Fest.

Why a Leeds Festival Motorhome Beats a Tent

Anyone who has camped at Leeds Festival in a tent knows the score. The ground at Bramham Park is notoriously unforgiving - rock-hard in dry years, a mud bath in wet ones. The shared toilet facilities are exactly as grim as you would expect from a festival serving up to 90,000 people. Sleep is difficult with music, generators, and neighbouring campers making noise until the small hours. And packing up a wet tent on Monday morning while nursing a hangover is nobody's idea of fun.

Leeds Festival camping in a motorhome changes the equation entirely. You have a proper bed, a kitchen for cooking breakfast, and a functioning toilet that you do not share with strangers. Even if you camp on site, you have a solid roof, comfortable mattress, and somewhere to retreat when the weather turns. And on Monday, you drive away clean and rested while the tent campers are stuffing sodden nylon into bin bags.

Option One: Camp On Site at Bramham Park

Leeds Festival has a dedicated campervan and caravan field within the festival grounds. You need a campervan pass in addition to your weekend ticket - passes must be booked in advance through the official ticket seller and are not available to purchase on the gate. They are limited and sell out, so do not leave it late. Each pitch measures approximately nine metres by seven metres, so there is room for a Leeds Festival motorhome and a small awning or tent alongside.

There are a few things to be aware of. There is no electric hook-up anywhere on site, so you will be running on your motorhome's leisure battery for the duration. Generators over 7kg gas weight are not permitted. Open fires are banned, though raised barbecues are allowed if kept three metres from any vehicle. And the festival's terms state that hire company staff cannot drive the vehicle onto site - so if you are hiring from us, you collect the motorhome from our Pontefract depot and drive it to Bramham yourself, which is straightforward.

The on-site option puts you right in the heart of the action. You walk from your motorhome to the arena. You do not need to worry about transport, designated drivers, or missing the late-night acts. The trade-off is no mains power, basic facilities, and the noise of a festival campsite around you all night.

Option Two: Stay at a Nearby Campsite

If you want electric hook-up, hot showers, and a quieter night's sleep, a nearby campsite is the way to go. You drive to the festival each day and return to comfort each evening.

Rudding Holiday Park, Follifoot (near Harrogate). About thirty minutes from Bramham Park. A large, award-winning park with motorhome pitches on grass or hardstanding, all with electric hook-up. Facilities include an outdoor heated swimming pool, the Deer House family pub, a shop, and good shower blocks. More expensive than basic sites but noticeably more comfortable. Book well in advance for the festival weekend - Rudding is popular with regular festival-goers.

Knaresborough Caravan and Motorhome Club Site. About twenty-five minutes north of Bramham Park. A well-equipped Club campsite with seventy-nine hardstanding pitches, all with 16-amp electric hook-up, plus an on-site café bar and good facilities. Knaresborough itself is a lovely market town with riverside walks along the Nidd Gorge. Open to both members and non-members. Book early for the festival weekend.

Campsite or Farm CL near Tadcaster. The Caravan and Motorhome Club has several Certified Locations (small five-pitch sites, usually on farms) in the Tadcaster and Boston Spa area. These are basic - water tap and waste disposal, sometimes no electric hook-up - but they are close to Bramham and often available when larger sites are booked out. Search the Club's website for CLs near LS23.

Stay at home in Pontefract. Seriously. If you are hiring a motorhome from our area, Pontefract to Bramham Park is about twenty minutes via the A1. You could collect your motorhome, use it as your festival base in your own driveway, and drive to the festival each day. This is the most practical approach for local customers.

Getting to and from the Festival

If you are camping on site, transport is not an issue - you walk from your pitch to the arena. If you are staying off site, you need a plan for each day.

Driving to Bramham Park during festival weekend requires planning. The car parks at the festival site are extensive and parking is included in the ticket price, but traffic is heavy, particularly on Thursday afternoon and Friday when the main influx arrives. Saturday morning is also busy. Aim to arrive early if you want to see acts on the opening stages.

There is an official shuttle bus service between Leeds Train Station (from Sovereign Square Park) and the festival site, operated by First Bus. Tickets can be booked through the First Bus app. Note that this is the only official shuttle route - there are no shuttle services from Wetherby, Harrogate, or Knaresborough, so if you are staying at a nearby campsite, you will most likely need to drive. A designated driver rotating among your group is the most reliable option.

The drive time from most nearby campsites to Bramham Park is fifteen to thirty minutes in normal traffic. During festival ingress and egress, add significantly more. Leave early, come back late, and have snacks in the motorhome for the journey.

What to Bring

The advantage of a motorhome for a festival is that you are not limited to what fits in a rucksack. Our packing checklist covers the general motorhome essentials, but for a festival weekend, add these to the list. Pack proper food - breakfast supplies especially, because festival food at 9am is either unavailable or expensive. A cool box with drinks saves a fortune versus buying from the bars. Bring camping chairs for sitting outside the motorhome in the evening, and a gazebo or awning if you have one for weather protection.

Wellies are non-negotiable regardless of the forecast. Bramham Park can turn to mud in hours if it rains, and the walk from the car parks to the main arena is substantial. Ear plugs for sleeping (the bass carries for miles), a portable phone charger (phone batteries die fast at festivals), and sun cream are all essentials. Factor in layers - August in Yorkshire can be 25 degrees at 3pm and 10 degrees at midnight.

Power and Water Considerations

If you are staying at a campsite with electric hook-up, power is not an issue - charge phones, run the fridge, use the lights as you would normally. Our hookup guide walks you through the connection process if you are new to it.

If you are on site at Bramham Park or on a basic CL without electric, you will be running on the motorhome's leisure battery. This will power the lights, water pump, and USB chargers for a few days without issue, but avoid using the mains sockets for high-draw items like hair dryers. The gas heating and hob work independently of the electric supply.

Fill the fresh water tank before you leave, and if your campsite has a water point, top up daily. A long weekend of showers, washing up, and drinking water will go through the tank faster than you might expect. Empty the waste water when it gets to about three-quarters full - do not wait until it is completely full or you risk overflow.
